About the Magazines

joomla site stats
Perspectives serves the writing community by providing its readers with an intriguing look at the world through the eyes of inanimate objects. The content is unique; it's unexpected.  It dares to be different.

The current issue:

Perspectives Magazine January 2010

The premier issue, July 2006, featured stories and poems that revealed the world through the eyes of: a fish, a soul, a wooden clock, a hundred dollar bill and more.  To see all the perspectives published to date click on the archives link in the sidebar.

Who writes for Perspectives?  New and published writers wanting to challenge their imaginative ability by giving inanimate objects human qualities.  Excluding pornographic or offensive language (refers to race|sexual orientation, and cursing), the sky's the limit.

About Christian Perspectives

To everything there is an appointed time--including this magazine.  The idea came after I was reading over the manuscripts for Perspectives.  Three contributors submitted entries that pertained to biblical objects/animals:
  • A donkey ... The Ass's Mouth by Susan Phillips (Jan 2008)
  • The flooded earth ... The Earth in Flood by Eva Schultz (July 2007)
  • A stone ... The Smooth Stone by Trista Fennell (Jan 2008)
So, I thought it would be interesting to devote an entire magazine just for objects mentioned in the Bible.

In Christian Perspectives, biblical objects and animals describe their experiences with the Godhead, the heavenly dimension, and the natural world through short stories and poems.

Example:
The stones from the wall said, "We come from the mountains far away, from the sides of the craggy hills.  Fire and water have worked on us for ages, but made us only crags.  Human hands have made us into a dwelling where the children of your immortal race are born, and suffer, and rejoice, and find rest and shelter, and learn the lessons set them by our Maker and yours.  But we have passed through much to fit us for this.  Gunpowder has rent our very heart; pick-axes have cleaved and broken us, it seemed to us often without design or meaning, as we lay misshapen stones in the quarry; but gradually we were cut into blocks, and some of us were chiseled with finer instruments to a sharper edge.  But we are complete now, and are in our places, and are of service.

You don't have to be a minister or pastor to contribute to CP; all you need is creative writing ability.  Note: the content must be based on verses in the Christian bible (Genesis - Revelation).
